SIGNATURE MEMBER, OIL PAINTERS OF AMERICA
Welcome to my website. I update it frequently with new images -- just click the Recent Work link, or Archives to see more. I strive for spontaneity and truth in my painting, hoping to keep things simple, yet strong! Robert Genn recently cited a great quote from Garrison Keillor, which, though meant for writers, sums up the painting adventure, and really resonated with me: "There's no mastery to be had. You love the attempt. You don't master a story any more than you master a river. You feel lucky to canoe down it."
The year has sped past, as usual! I have had fun painting, forming friendships with many other painters on this journey, and travelling in France with fellow art souls! Our trips to Provence last September were amazing - gorgeous weather, fun people, lots of wine and delicious food...oh, and we actually DID paint as well. Right now, we have 2 spots remaining for the September, 2012 Provence trip. Check it out at www.huffharrington.com, Painting Trips to Provence link.
Dates will be posted soon for four or five one-day "tune-up" workshops in 2012 at Huff Harrington Fine Art in Atlanta (www.huffharrington.com), and I'll be teaching a 2-day workshop in March, 2012, in Chattanooga. See workshop link for details. Also, if you are interested, the link to my blog, "Nancy Franke, Musings on Painting," is below!
