Painting from life is a joyous experience -- it is challenging, of course, but I continue to be inspired by the opportunity to catch a fleeting moment, the truth of a color or shadow, the contrast of powerful shapes.  The freshness and spontaneity resulting from this experience resonate not only with the painter, but hopefully, with the viewer as well!
